Journal

Notes from your day, with a mood. Private and unshareable.

Somewhere to write down what happened and how you felt about it.

Private by design

The journal is the only module that bypasses sharing entirely. It cannot be shared with a person or a group — there is no such option in the interface and none in the API.

That is deliberate: the value of a journal comes from being honest, and honesty disappears the moment anyone else can look.

It does go into your data export. Since nobody else has it, nobody else can hand it over on your behalf.

An entry

A date, an optional title, the text, and an optional mood on a five-point scale. Any number of entries fit on one day — a journal also catches what comes to mind in the evening.

The mood is optional. Demanding it with every note would turn the journal into a survey and put you off writing anything short.

Streaks

The summary counts how many days in a row you have an entry. A streak starts from today or from yesterday — if it counted only from today, a streak built over weeks would vanish every morning and come back in the evening.

Searching

By text, by title and by mood. The filters combine, because in a journal you usually ask about a combination: "what was I writing in March when things were rough".
