Public holidays in Poland 2027: dates, long weekends and working days
Poland has 14 public holidays in 2027, eight of them on weekdays, so the year has 253 working days. Two fall on a Saturday, which earns employees an extra day off.
Poland has 14 statutory days off in 2027. Eight fall on a weekday, four on a Sunday and two on a Saturday. That leaves 253 working days and a working time norm of 2008 hours for a full-time job.
The two Saturday holidays matter more than they look: under the Labour Code, each one gives employees another day off, which the employer must schedule.
All public holidays in 2027
| Date | Day | Holiday |
|---|---|---|
| 1 January | Friday | New Year's Day |
| 6 January | Wednesday | Epiphany |
| 28 March | Sunday | Easter Sunday |
| 29 March | Monday | Easter Monday |
| 1 May | Saturday | Labour Day |
| 3 May | Monday | Constitution Day |
| 16 May | Sunday | Pentecost |
| 27 May | Thursday | Corpus Christi |
| 15 August | Sunday | Assumption Day |
| 1 November | Monday | All Saints' Day |
| 11 November | Thursday | Independence Day |
| 24 December | Friday | Christmas Eve |
| 25 December | Saturday | Christmas Day |
| 26 December | Sunday | Second day of Christmas |
Christmas Eve has been a statutory day off since 2025. Good Friday is not a public holiday in Poland, and neither are Easter Saturday or New Year's Eve.
Long weekends in 2027
Counting only statutory days off and normal weekends:
- 1-3 January - New Year's Day is a Friday, so three days without leave. Take Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 January and you are off from 1 to 6 January, six days for two days of leave.
- 27-29 March - Easter, Saturday to Monday.
- 1-3 May - Labour Day on Saturday and Constitution Day on Monday give three days. The extra day off owed for 1 May often lands on Friday 30 April or Tuesday 4 May, but that is the employer's decision.
- 27-30 May - Corpus Christi is a Thursday. One day of leave on Friday 28 May makes four days.
- 30 October - 1 November - All Saints' Day on a Monday.
- 11-14 November - Independence Day is a Thursday; Friday 12 November is the bridge day.
- 24 December - 2 January - Christmas Eve on Friday, Christmas on the weekend, then Monday 27 to Friday 31 December. Five days of leave give ten days off, four if the employer places the day owed for 25 December in that week. New Year's Day 2028 is a Saturday.
Assumption Day on 15 August falls on a Sunday, so it adds nothing in 2027.
Is Saturday a working day in Poland?
Not for most full-time employees. The Labour Code requires an average five-day working week (art. 129), and the usual schedule is Monday to Friday, so Saturday is the extra day off rather than a working day.
That is also why a public holiday on a Saturday counts: the working time norm drops by 8 hours for every holiday that is not on a Sunday (art. 130), and the employer has to give a replacement day off within the settlement period. In 2027 that happens twice, for 1 May and 25 December. A holiday on a Sunday earns nothing extra.
Working days and hours per month
| Month | Working days | Hours (full time) |
|---|---|---|
| January | 19 | 152 |
| February | 20 | 160 |
| March | 22 | 176 |
| April | 22 | 176 |
| May | 19 | 144 |
| June | 22 | 176 |
| July | 22 | 176 |
| August | 22 | 176 |
| September | 22 | 176 |
| October | 21 | 168 |
| November | 20 | 160 |
| December | 22 | 168 |
| 2027 | 253 | 2008 |
In May and December the hours are lower than working days times eight. That gap is the Saturday holiday: a day off is owed even though no weekday was lost. The reasoning is in working days versus the working time norm.
School holidays are a separate calendar
Public holidays close offices and most shops; school holidays only close schools. Winter holidays in 2027 run in three waves by region, from 18 January to 28 February, and the spring break is 25-30 March. Dates and the rules behind them are in key dates of the Polish school year 2026/2027.

Legal basis: the Act of 18 January 1951 on public holidays and art. 129-130 of the Labour Code. The dates of Easter, Pentecost and Corpus Christi move every year; the other holidays are fixed.
