Hours are for a full-time job with a one-month settlement period. For part time, scale them down; for longer settlement periods, add up the months in the period.

The year totals are the same as in 2026, 253 days and 2,008 hours, but they are spread differently: in 2026 July had 23 working days and January 20, in 2027 no month has more than 22 and January drops to 19. The 2026 figures are in working days in Poland 2026.

Why May has 19 working days but only 144 hours

Working days and the working time norm are two different numbers. Article 130 of the Polish Labour Code lowers the norm by 8 hours for every public holiday that falls on a day other than Sunday. Saturday is not Sunday, so a Saturday holiday takes 8 hours off the norm without removing a working day, and the employer has to give employees another day off for it within the settlement period.

In 2027 this happens twice:

  • 1 May (Labour Day, Saturday): May has 19 working days, but 19 x 8 would be 152 hours and the norm is 144,
  • 25 December (Christmas Day, Saturday): December has 22 working days and a norm of 168 hours instead of 176.

Holidays on a Sunday change nothing: Easter Sunday (28 March), Pentecost (16 May), Assumption Day (15 August) and the second day of Christmas (26 December) all fall on Sundays in 2027. The mechanism is explained step by step in working days versus the working time norm.

Pay per hour at the minimum wage

The minimum wage in 2027 is 4,950 PLN gross a month, and it is the same in every month, so the hourly value of a full-time month moves with the norm: 34.38 PLN in May (144 hours), 32.57 PLN in January (152 hours) and 28.13 PLN in the 176-hour months. Net pay and the hourly rate for civil contracts are in Poland minimum wage 2027.

What these numbers are used for

  • Hourly pay: rate x norm gives the month's pay. An hourly worker earns for 144 hours in May and 176 in July, four days' difference.
  • Deadlines in working days: "14 working days" skips weekends and public holidays, so a deadline that starts in late April or late December ends later than the calendar suggests.
  • Overtime: overtime is measured against the hours norm, not the number of days. Adding up the hours themselves is covered in how to count working hours.
